As a typical “Flying Dutchman”, Martin has enjoyed all facets of the hotel industry in various positions for over 30 years to date, despite its downsides, that our industry is confronted with from time to time.
Graduated from the Hotelschool The Hague and started in his beloved Amsterdam at Crowne Plaza, he was able to manage his first hotel (Novotel) in Maastricht after 4 years.
In various General- and later Corporate Management positions for Accor, Lindner Hotels in locations such as The Hague, New York, Prague, Gdansk, Düsseldorf and since 2013 Vienna joining Vienna House, he has always tried to put a few stones in the river, to change the current.
At Vienna House he leads the operative hotel division, spread over 8, mainly Central European Countries. On corporate level the commercial, operations and IT departments fall under his responsibility as well.
He believes that at least 80% of the ultimate guest experience consist of making the „Basics“ shine, but above all to gain and to retain the employees enthusiastic about our great industry.
